Let’s Charrette

“Let’s Charrette” is an annual interdisciplinary on-campus workshop/competition, hosted by the Michael Graves College of Architecture and Design at both Kean USA and Wenzhou-Kean University.

The word Charrette is French for “cart” or “chariot.” “Design Charrette” arose in the 19th century at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where it was not unusual at the end of a term for teams of students to work right up until a deadline when a charrette would be wheeled among them to collect up their scale models and other work for review.

On this motion poster, a bitmap of the cart and a loop animation of the manuscripts are adopted as the main visual elements to express a steady flow of creativity. The copywriting on the background, composed of the DIN and Zapfino font family, shows the balanced rhythm.
